Keep Bleeding is an album that succeeds in spite of itself. On this album, Jonathan Greenwood’s recording project The Doublecross takes the basic mould of Hot Water Music’s upbeat melodic punk and adds a bit of radio-friendly sheen to it. This isn’t a slight – there’s a place for commercial music, and the style works well on Keep Bleeding. A lot of the tracks here bleed into one another (no pun intended), but the lack of variety is never an issue as the majority of the songs are enjoyable despite sounding similar.

Keep Bleeding is his third release and one to feature songs with a darker lyrical content. It is also an album which apparently sees him extending the influences in his sound from beyond The Replacements and Lucero, to encompass the sound of bands like Teenage Fanclub and the Manics. Given we love all those bands we were definitely keen to hear what the album had to offer. The Double Cross will undoubtedly achieve that with this release, and with a bit of luck they could even go on to cross over to the wider success enjoyed by The Gaslight Anthem.

The Doublecross, the indie punk project of Cardiff musician Jon Greenwood has just confirmed a string of UK tour dates to celebrate the release of new album ‘Keep Bleeding’. The 12-track album was released on CD, Digital & Vinyl formats through a collaboration of international labels including Boss Tuneage, No Panic, Aaaahh Real Records and Tiny Little Creatures on Friday 7th October. The tour dates include an official album launch party on Friday 11th November at the famous Clwb Ifor Bach in Cardiff with opening support coming from promising indie punk locals, Pipedream & Hot Mass
