The John-Pauls are a co-ed three-piece of post-punkers from Austin, Texas. Their four-song debut contains new songs for old people and old songs for new people via two guitars in drop D, cave woman drums, a piano, and voices. The sounds are dissonant and infectious, recorded at Jim Eno (Spoon)’s Public Hi Fi studio on a gray, Texas winter day. Strains of VU, Sonic Youth and Unrest creep through Phillip Niemeyer‘s poetic compositions – with lyrics akin to a storybook for adults. Songs are fluent in both the dark and the light. Go ahead, enjoy with a bottle of good beer or a glass of cheetos, your choice. Includes unlimited streaming of The John Pauls via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. ships out within 3 days.

Three years after releasing his post-Civil Wars solo debut, John Paul White has announced details of his next solo album, The Hurting Kind, which will be released April 12th on White’s Single Lock Records. Featuring vocal contributions from Lee Ann Womack, Erin Rae, and the Secret Sisters, White’s forthcoming album was co-produced alongside the Alabama Shakes’ Ben Tanner and recorded a variety of studios in White’s native Muscle Shoals region. The Hurting Kind also finds White co-writing with legendary Nashville songwriters like Bobby Braddock and Whisperin’ Bill Anderson

Profile: Indie rock/alt/garage band from Austin, Texas. 25 50 100 250 500. Albums. Forget To Remember To Forget (Album).

The John-Pauls are a four piece band from Austin, Texas, playing post-punk with a new verve.

Complete your John Paul Jones collection. Its basically like listening to a rehashed demo tape for a Zeppelin album that never happened-maybe it was something the band was working on before John Bonham passed away all those years ago. In deference to JPJ's excellent bass playing with LZ I am not going to get into the many levels this here album isn't at. Maybe doing this gig sounded like a good idea at the time to a guy who was probably bored not being in an active band

Conclusion: The John-Pauls reveal interesting ideas and great influences, but this debut EP is not exactly the most inspiring production I’ve heard in the genre. Best songs: We Should Be Armed.
