With spot-on impersonations of everyone from thugs to new age men to her own grandmother, it's no wonder Rachel's voice-over skills have been sought by Comedy Central, Spike TV, and Adult Swim. Growing up as the daughter of a civil rights lawyer and a blues musician, she developed a keen eye for the absurd and unjust. Now, with the release of her debut album, no one is safe from her pinpoint takedowns her flower child mother, whore-ish friends, even herself. In the same blistering set she'll make you laugh about women in 1940s movies and women in porn movies.

  • Stumbled across a set of Rachel Feinstein's comedy from the special 'Women Who Kill' on archive.org. I thought she was great. Unlike most popular female comedians nowadays who go the "shock value" route, leading the listener in one direction before crossing them up with some sarcastic, racist punchline that we're supposed to laugh at because...comedy, Feinstein mines a different vein. She targets mostly male/female relationships, naughtiness, her mother and her own crazy life.RF has various voices that she uses effectively: ditsy woman, her mother and grandmother, a little boy...One of her strongest moments is when she voices her imaginary, high-maintenance son saying: "I'd rather be called Joshua if that's OK. I just prefer the full name." 'Thug Tears' uses much of the same material as 'Women That Kill,' so be aware. Most of the bits are fleshed out more here, but not necessarily funnier (she was pretty darn good on the special). If I had to criticize something from this CD, it would be the overuse of catch phrases like, "My t:ts are confused." It's funny once, but she hits that line three or four times. Overall, I got several good belly laughs from this album. I'm considering buying a copy for my sister for her birthday. I think she'd enjoy it. Recommended.
