Born in Austin in 1948, Matthew Robinson remains a rare breed: genuine Texas bluesman. His first new music in more than a decade, Work That Jelly! preserves Robinson's guitar style as round yet still piercing. His trio of Jelly Kings lay down dependable backing, while guest . Clark adds some funky guitar of his own on a couple of tunes. Robinson's vocals are the primary attraction, however, his warbles sliding into their own stratosphere but never without expressing his feelings with a gut force

Matthew Robinson & The Jelly Kings, workin' that jelly live at Antone's, Wednesday, December 5th, 10:00. Matthew Robinson added an event. 13 November 2018 ·. ANTONE'S PRESENTS Matthew Robinson & the Jelly Kings Wednesday December 5th Doors: 9:00 pm, Show: 10:00 pm This event is 21 and over. That's just one example of the dilemma we face in getting this Austin icon work. Antone's has been the only venue to support Matthew at all ever since they opened the new location on 5th but even that has dried up. I bring this out not to whinge, hey it's show business after all, but to see if perhaps if folks out there started asking venues about Matthew perhaps that might make a difference. Those that know Matthew will tell you there is no one with a bigger heart or who committed more of his life to being a bluesman for over 50 years.
