Schumann – Album for the Young – Scenes from Childhood Schirmer’s Library of Musical Classics, Volume 2094. The whole concept of an album for children was inspired by Robert’s daughter, Marie. Clara Schumann, Robert’s sister, had this to say about the matter: The works that the children usually learn in their piano lessons are so bad that Robert lit upon the idea of composing and publishing a book (a kind of album) containing small pieces for children. He has already written a number of charming little pieces. A lot of older intermediate students prefer to skip over this collection because of its title (Album for the Young), and because it’s intended to instruct the student

Kinderszenen (German pronunciation: ; original spelling Kinderscenen, "Scenes from Childhood"), Opus 15, by Robert Schumann, is a set of thirteen pieces of music for piano written in 1838. In this work, Schumann provides us with his adult reminiscences of childhood. Schumann had originally written 30 movements for this work, but chose 13 for the final version.
