The Here and Now is the fourth full-length studio album by British metalcore band Architects, and was released on 24 January 2011 in the United Kingdom and majority of Europe, and 25 January 2011 in the United States. The album was recorded with producer Steve Evetts at his own studio The Omen Room Studios in California. Brighton five-piece Architects have at least made some effort to rock the boat on their fourth album in five years, The Here and Now, with the glitchy electronica of "An Open Letter to Myself" and the angular stadium rock balladry of "Heartburn" revealing a softer and more melancholic side worlds apart from their renowned brutal screamcore sound.

While Architects haven’t made the flawless album needed to quell trepidation from existing fans about an apparent mellowing, there are enough good moments in The Here and Now to see them expand their audience regardless. This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Licence.

Hence, fourth studio album ‘The Here and Now‘ is an interesting case study indeed. While ‘Ruin‘ was a solid launching pad and ‘Hollow Crown‘ assertive, ‘The Here and Now‘ is not afforded the same luxuries. The execution precise. If this album is to be properly embraced it is worth understanding that there is some obvious change going on. The biggest selling point here is the differences rather than similarities contained in the Architects sound.
