Evgeny Kissin;Valery Gergiev. Evgeny Kissin - The Complete Concerto Recordings.

Evgeny Kissin releases Beethoven album to launch new exclusive contract with Deutsche Grammophon after 25 years. It has been clear for some time that Evgeny Kissin is a Beethoven player of rare pedigree and distinction, the finest Russian-born Beethovenian since Emil Gilels, Gramophone. Any history of the great pianists would be incomplete without a chapter devoted to Evgeny Kissin. The 45-year-old artist is blessed with the rare qualities required to enter the pantheon of piano legends.

Evgeny Igorevitch Kissin. Profile: Russian classical pianist and former child prodigy, born 10 October 1971.

Pianist Evgeny Kissin skyrocketed to international fame as a keyboard sensation in the 1980s. Today he is a living legend. However, I think Kissin has a strong presence when he plays Brahms. There are many who play Chopin, Liszt, and Rachmaninoff predominately, but few of them play Brahms properly. Why? While most of Chopin, Liszt and Rachmaninoff's works are childish and flattering personal feelings, Brahms' works need to be considered beyond them and sometimes thoroughly rational. Kissin's inner voice in Brahms ' work is second only to Gould’s. Kissin's performance is NOT as exaggerated as Argerich's, as frivolous as Pollini's, and not as prosaic as Cho's.

At age 11 months, he reportedly was able to hum along to a Bach tune his sister was playing on the piano. At age 6 he commenced his own piano studies at the esteemed Gnessin School of Music for Gifted Children.
