Viva Arriva marks the return of blue-eyed soul singing Larry Santos, who released a few albums in the '70s on Casablanca and other labels. The 16 songs feature Santos singing and playing piano in a Rod Stewart/Bill Medley voice; in spite of muddled recording, they sound far better than his exploits of yesterday. He excels on ballads like "Georgia on My Mind," and "I Don't Know Why," with its crying guitar. A female artist joins him on "I'll Come.
