I Won’t Be Your Man. Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts ensembles. US college ensembles have depth, and there’s breadth to the depth too. The Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts has constructed a programme around two of its ensembles, each named after the respective producers – Group Giz and Group Gunn, where the former refers to Greg Gisbert and the latter to Eric Gunnison. The two young student groups alternate their ways through the 14 song disc, which lasts a generous 77-minutes. I’m sure several of the students here will go on to have important careers in jazz. There’s a lot of likeable ambition to be heard here.

Hang Time (Capri Records, 2013) is a good recruiting tool that also serves as a career launch. Produced by the Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, it follows the concept of Fourteen Channels (Capri Records, 2010), a recording featuring some of the Conservatory’s students, divided into two groups. Group Giz, mentored by trumpeter Greg Gisbert, consists of Kyle Bollacker, bass; Stephen Chen, alto sax; Garrett Bodley, tenor sax; Michael Lenssen, trumpet; Robert Delgardo, drums; Christopher Navarrette, trumpet; Zack Demos, trombone; and Carlos Snaider, guitar. The album is the result of the Conservatory’s second recording industry camp. The first camp produced Fourteen Channels. The Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts is a Denver-based non-profit organization that’s dedicated to empowering young musicians to express their creativity through jazz.

This program has been so incredible for my learning process! First in high school learning from the. masters and getting to hang with some incredible musicians to playing with friends and teachers from ccja out of high school it is incredible. The lessons I learned studying jazz music with CCJA go far beyond the ability to play jazz music JA did wonders for my creativity, teamwork, professionalism, all qualities that benefit anyone at any stage or situation in life. Whatever career you envision for your child, CCJA has my enthusiastic recommendation.
