This unusual LP features Cannonball and Nat Adderley (along with bassist Sam Jones ) playing with three of the top modern New Orleans musicians of the 1960s: tenor-saxophonist Nat Perrilliat, drummer/composer James Black and pianist Ellis Marsalis (who was unknown at the time outside of his hometown). Together they perform a fresh repertoire full of originals by New Orleans players (including two songs from clarinetist Alvin Battiste ) and Nat's "In the Ba. Julian Edwin "Cannonball" Adderley (September 15, 1928 – August 8, 1975) was a jazz alto saxophonist of the hard bop era of the 1950s and 1960s.
