But still the words circle Around my head like flies. The gnashing marble teeth Were disturbing my slumber And there I was in the middle Of a game called chess But my vagabond initiated the process. Yet the fields are in motion Not as time but as clouds Falling as silver rain And washing away the heavy blood. Extraction from O'mindiary. I (even if I should be in plural) am the Singular dimension The repeated phrase of a lost section Where the circle (the actual box of colors) Is completed The mindjourney, the merry go mind. Draw the lined in water - divine the innerwold Inside the outside of the merry go mindstop and not the others of I) painted the words To a context, a mind absurd To curse the falling star With the baby blue doll under my arm.

And Oceans' second album, released in 1999, takes heavy influence from the already firmly grounded genres of symphonic and black metal, yet it cannot truly be defined by either. While symphonic black metal is perhaps the most adequate classification of the albums basic sound, it does less to actually facilitate the listening experience than it does to create a negative stigma around the entire work. Yet, while the keyboards define the sound, the true genius of The Symmetry of I, The Circle of O lies in the cohesion of each instrument. Underneath the soaring symphonic melodies lurk brutal and well crafted guitar lines that never relinquish dominance to the other elements.

  • …And Oceans’ second album The Symmetry of I, the Circle of O is a less-frenetic replica of the first, and the riffing recalls a less-engaging Cradle of Filth, at times. The keyboards aren’t used efficiently, and the songs are prolix and somehow un-engaging: the blast-beat passages are a mere surplus. The final track is a mere soundtrack-like synth showcase.Highlights: “Mechanic Hippie”.
