It created a whole new sound that took the aggression of punk and pulled it inside out. The Stranglers took their whole sound and pulled it in every direction possible and created a whole new way to play music. The album’s very title was perfect. Outside Tokyo’ sounded like it has escaped from the black side of the album, the song was a downbeat slice of delicious melancholia, those funeral keyboards and the chugging bass run dominate as Hugh sang about the end of time. Flip the album over and things got a whole lot darker- at least a year ahead of Joy Division and the new dark the Stranglers were wandering into some very black territory here.

It’s an album that includes five bona-fide classics in Born To Lose, All By Myself, Chinese Rocks (written by Hell and Dee Dee Ramone, it was later recorded by The Ramones on their End Of The Century album), Get Off The Phone and One Track Mind. The album should have been an instant hit, but there was a problem: it sounded terrible. It was was actually recorded in London after the band had flown in to play on the Sex Pistols’ shambolic Anarchy tour, but the mixing process was a disaster as the band, their critical faculties dimmed by drug addiction, produced an album that was muddy and failed. Opener Myage has a hint of the new wave stylings first heard on Descendents’ single Ride The Wild, but the trashy guitar tones and Aukerman’s snarl reveal a far more confrontational band not out to make friends.

The Refused Party Program. If it was truly "future" punk as they so boldly implied, it certainly didn't catch on, because even now no real punk sounds anything like that. It's got to look like a duck and talk like a duck to be a duck. I like the album, but it's not the punk revolution it promised to be. I'm all for musicians breaking the mold and innovation in general but if you call a minivan a sports car, gear heads are going to still call it a minivan despite their advertisements. Are the last couple of pictures from the insert? I bought mine still sealed but do not have an insert of any sorts. / Reply Notify me Helpful.

Post-Punk Album of the Year. Drab Majesty The Demonstration. Drab Majesty’s second full length LP The Demonstration is our pick for post-punk album of the year. It’s a spellbinding concept record continuing the esoteric cult UFO explorations of Deb Demure and Mona D. The album’s interdimensional melancholy is highlighted in these fantastic tracks and more: Cold Souls. London’s The Horror’s have not grown stale in a decade of existence, releasing a fantastic new-wave inspired concept album channeling Cronenbergian body horrors. Most Genre Transcending Album (Or most refreshing). Algiers The Underside Of Power. Post-punk and soulful Gospel from singer/guitarist Franklin James Fisher ? Yes please! Atlanta Georgia’s Algiers are doing something new with the sound only touched upon by The Birthday Party and The Gun Club.

At first I was like what? Why is insomniac here over Dookie or AI, than I forgot the name of this list. Insomniac was the most punk album GD put out. Just listen to songs like Geek Stink Breath, Jaded, Armatage Shanks and 86. Great punk songs. Smash was the best selling album ever sold on an independent label. And isn't the whole independent label thing what makes punk what it is, 18 Raw Power - Iggy & the Stooges. It's better than insomniac, enema of the state and any other album on this list! This album defined the 2000s and propelled Green Day back into superstardom after a decade of declining success. This is not punk rock at all, insomniac is much better and belongs on the list - musicfanguy.

Pink Floyd became one of the best-selling acts of all time with cover art by Storm Thorgerson that was as iconic as a corporate logo and far more memorable than the band's faces, and though relatively few people are familiar with The Grateful Dead's music, virtually everyone knows their dancing bear logo.

It's been really hard': Heidi Montag responds to escalating drama with sister-in-law Stephanie Pratt after she is branded 'toxic' and a 'gold digger'. as she moves on from Mel B lesbian fling bombshell.

It didn’t help, not in the slightest bit. All it did was manage to annoy the truck drivers, to a point where they came back, slapped me in the face, and went back to driving their truck to who knows where. All I could do was plop down on my knees and start to cry soulfully in anger and confusion and hurt. Long brown hair, pale blue eyes, cold and still as ice. I’m only fifteen years old, a young age to be bought and sold. Yup, the year is 3056. My guess is that it’s the quickest way to get money. But now a days, this is how young ten year old girls lose their virginity. Most girls get either sold to old men, young woman as slaves, or teenage boys to fill their cravings as the governor puts it. I was disgusted by the way he put that. I stood in disbelief in front of the governor. I was bought and sol. y his son.

Believe it or not, the band have now been racking up hits with their fiery brand of punk-rock for 22 years in the UK. In such time, they've landed 22 tracks in the Official Singles Chart Top 40 and seven Top 10 albums – including two Number 1s. Oh, and there's the small matter of their own musical, which continues to tour the globe seven years after its debut. To celebrate the release of new album Revolution Radio, we thought it was about time we looked at their big ones - in the singles and albums departments. It's their biggest selling song in America (it's reportedly sold 2 million in the country), but it places fifth in the UK with sales of 238,600.
