Skid Row. Album Slave to the Grind. Slave to the Grind Lyrics

Lyrics to "Slave To The Grind" song by Skid Row: You got me forced to crack my lids in two I'm still stuck inside this rubber room I gotta punch th. .The noose gets tighter around my throat But I ain't at the end of my rope 'cause I won't be the one left behind Can't be king of the world If you're slave to the grind Tear down the rat racial slime Can't be king of the world If you're slave to the grind. Get it? A routine injection, a lethal dose But my day in the sun ain't even close There's no need to waste your prayers on me You better mark my words 'cause I'm history Yes indeed. You might beg for mercy to get by But I'd rather tear this thorn from my side

Released in 1991 Skid Row's 'Slave to the Grind' was a heavier more musically mature approach to their original glam metal sound. This record could be considered much more extreme than their first, as it lacks some more pop-like elements, which gave way to an overall heavier sound. The album delivers a diverse selection of songs, ranging from heavy, groovy tracks, to epic ballads and fast paced almost thrash metal songs. While the sounds do vary between the tracks, they all maintain what is clearly the Skid Row sound  . Summing up, Slave to the Grind is not the best hard rock album ever released and maybe no one will remember it in 10 years. However, it is an album made by five guys who love this music and appreciate the chance they got to play it. Definitely, it is an album that needs to be in everyone’s collection.

  • 'Slave to the Grind' is a solid collection of grit and bombast. At its best, 'Slave to the Grind' stands shoulder-to-shoulder with GN'R's 'Use Your Illusion' albums (also released in 1991). "Quicksand Jesus" and "In A Darkened Room" are great ballads, and "Slave to the Grind," "The Threat" and "Monkey Business" are fantastic rockers. The problem? Not enough restraint, too much posturing, and one, horribly misogynistic misfire ("Get the Fuck Out").

  • Out of all the artists and albums I have come across, Slave to the Grind is my all-time favorite album. Every track is catchy. Every track has a meaning. Every track is golden.
