Almost immediately after putting on their debut full-length, Avarice and Absolution, you can't help but notice the similarities between STP and this Virginia-based quintet. Singer Jason Martinez certainly has his Weiland-isms down pat, especially on "Sugar Star," in which he utilizes one of his idol's trademarks - singing through what appears to be a megaphone (or walkie-talkie)

Avarice and Absolution. This album has an average beat per minute of 131 BPM (slowest/fastest tempos: 98/172 BPM). See the BPM profile of this album. Tracklist - Avarice and Absolution.

Revery hit hard with their debut release, Avarice & Absolution. There is no denying the rock-solid cuts carved out on this album, through and through. Strong vocals, big guitars, and catchy songwriting make Revery stand out from the crowd. Cursory comparisons can be made between Revery’s basic style and that of Stone Temple Pilots (STP) and Creed. While Revery is not offering anything revolutionary within this contemporary brand of Blues-based Hard Rock, they make an impact nonetheless

REVERY "Avarice and Absolution". By the end, I was wondering if the guilty-pleasure kick I got from the beginning of the album was some sort of sugar-rush-related fluke, but subsequent listens bore it out, and even managed to let "Popstar Wedding", "The Truth", and "Penelope", which at first seemed bland, worm their way into the subconscious. Bottom line - if you're a fan of VELVET REVOLVER, BRAND NEW SIN, or any of the bands mentioned above, you need to check out REVERY. Like I said, you're not gonna like it unless you like this kind of thing

Album · 2005 · 13 Songs. See All. Avarice & Absolution.

Revery - Avarice And Absolution. We wrote about the Virginia based band Revery?s debut album back in 2004, which was a nice rock affair. This new effort with several tracks from the previous one follows the same receipt with a mix of grunge ala Soundgarden and Alice In Chains mixed up with some modern hardrock ala Shinedown and Nickelback. And this is really competent, it actually sounds like a major release with a fat production from Johnny 13 that has done a great job. The problem then for the band is that there are a lot of similar bands playing this sort of post-grunge

Avarice and Absolution Album Cover Art. Revery. 1. Look at What You've Done.

Avarice & Absolution is such a solid rock album that you'd swear Revery has been around for years. It's highly appropriate that the group chose a bomb for the cover of this album, because the music is simply explosive. 3 people found this helpful.
